Goal Setting for Students® Book

The Goal Setting for Students book was written to show teenagers how they can take action on their dreams.

If you go on a trip you need a map.  If you are cooking the holiday meal for the first time you will need a recipe.  Goal setting is the same thing.  It is you roadmap to your future success.  Goals help you navigate through life’s journey. Goal setting is your life compass.

The book will help teenagers sort out what they like, what is important to them, what they are good at, and which areas they need to put in extra effort.  Goal setting will teach them how to take more responsibility and it will show them how to take a large, seemingly impossible task and break it down into very doable parts.

What Will Teenagers Learn?

  • Five “I’ll Make It Happen” words that will change their lives.
  • The six “Bummer Words” that will hold them back from reaching their full potential.
  • Five ways they can check their progress toward reaching their goals.
  • Five ways to stay positive and focused.
  • The importance of helping others.
  • How to manage their time more effectively.
  • Six ways to identify and overcome potential roadblocks.
  • How to increase their self-esteem.
  • How to take ownership of their educational responsibilities.
  • The five elements of success.

Message to Students

The book has three powerful messages to help teenagers take more responsibility for their education. Those messages are:

  • Parents and teachers want you to succeed, but you have to help them!
  • Teachers are educating you on science, math or English, and they are doing much more.  In collaboration with your parents, they are also teaching you about life, how to get along with others, how to communicate effectively, how to take responsibility, how to handle stress, and how to believe in yourself.
  • Successful people know it is important to help others.

The Goal Setting for Students chapters are designed to facilitate meaningful discussions on this important life skills issue.
